Homelessness: Reaching ground zero
Homelessness is a pressing issue that requires immediate attention. At The MMC, we are committed to providing essential support to those experiencing homelessness. We not only focus on providing a bed, a meal, a shower, and a safe place for the night, free from drugs, violence, and alcohol, we aim to get people off the street and back into a place of their own. While we acknowledge the complexities of the underlying causes of homelessness, we are dedicated to helping change lives at the bottom of the cliff by providing basic human needs. We do not judge why someone is homeless, as under the right circumstances, it can happen to anyone.
When you climb into bed tonight, after a big day at work, a lovely meal and then a movie on TV, followed by a hot shower, spare a thought for those that are curled up in a shop doorway FREEZING, HUNGRY, HOMELESS AND SCARED wondering if they’ll get through the night.
We are such lucky people.
Housing: A home for everyone
The MMC is taking action to create affordable housing solutions. Frustrated by the lack of progress from government agencies, we are committed to providing housing that can be leased to those struggling, at significantly lower than market rents, or even rent-free in some cases. Our goal is to provide people with a place to live and call home. We aim to offer houses rent-free for up to 5 years to young couples with kids, enabling them to save for their own homes. We're not seeking a financial return, just the opportunity to help those in need. We all need a place to call home.
Medical: Healthcare assistance
We recognise that many families struggle to afford essential medical care. While we can’t help everyone, The MMC is dedicated to changing outcomes for some of those in desperate need. We strive to provide assistance to individuals and families who are unable to access necessary medical services due to financial constraints. Your support helps us make a significant impact on their lives. People die waiting !
Tree planting: A greener planet
The MMC is dedicated to supporting initiatives that benefit our entire planet. Every winter, we aim to plant more trees, creating vital carbon sinks, promoting fresh air, and supporting natural habitats for animals. We proudly partner with World Forests (www.worldforests.co.nz) for these impactful projects, contributing to a sustainable and thriving environment for future generations. It just makes sense to us as the benefits of a forest are not confined to geographical borders. Our world needs more trees.
Rubbish and waste: Cleaning our communities
For some time now, The MMC has been actively involved in the simple yet impactful task of picking up rubbish at our beaches and along our roadsides. This straightforward effort makes a significant difference in our communities. By removing litter and waste, we contribute to cleaner, more beautiful environments for everyone to enjoy. It's so simple.
